Decomposer Discovery Outside
Describe the area in which you found a decomposer (ie. under something? shady area? moist? dry?)
We found our decomposer on a rotten log next to a healthy tree.
What type of decomposer did you identify?
The decomposers that we found were mold, moss, and termites.
What other biotic and abiotic things are in the immediate area? (List and describe as many as you can identify)
We have other healthy trees, rocks, and we even found some waste that was nearby. We also found fallen leaves and even a few little bugs.
What are the signs that decomposition is happening?
The signs that decomposing is happening is that we found holes inside of the log.
What is the temperature in the exact spot you found the decomposer?
The temperature that we found our decomposer in was 16 degrees F.
What is the ground temperature in that area?
The ground temperature in that area was 9 degrees F.
