Decomposer Discovery Outside
Describe the area in which you found a decomposer (ie. under something? shady area? moist? dry?)
The area was very moist and wet, a perfect place for a decomposer.
What type of decomposer did you identify?
We found a maggot and evidence of a maggot being in the area.
What other biotic and abiotic things are in the immediate area? (List and describe as many as you can identify)
We saw trees, dead logs, pine, dirt, and rocks.
What are the signs that decomposition is happening?
There were holes in a dead log, and there was a maggot under the log.
What is the temperature in the exact spot you found the decomposer?
The temperature was to our calculations was 31 degrees Fahrenheit.
What is the ground temperature in that area?
The ground temperature was 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

This project was fun I learned more about decomposers, and more about their environment. They are small, but help a lot in our community. They are very important to our world.
